What To Do in Your Off Season

As the weather starts to change, so do the race seasons. As you start to hang up your gear, take this as an outline or foundations for next season.

Rest

Your body has been working hard as you push it to the limits over the course of the season. A few days or weeks of light training, cross training, or completely dropping all training will help you recharge physically and mentally.

Plan Ahead

During your couple week break, start to think about next season.

What went well last season, what can you improve on next season, and what goals or challenges you are going to crush?

Find Your Mojo

Time off can recoup your motivational fire.

Read about inspiring stories, watch documentaries, start to recon your next event over Google, book race events with a group of friends, or try training with a new crew.

Plan Your Off-Season

Two things every off-season plan needs:

  1. Ease you back into training without leaving you feel overburdened.

  2. Provide a foundation of fitness that you can build when its time to prepare for your next event.

Take Action

The earlier you begin your off-season training, the more gradual your volume build up will be. This helps lessen the chance of injury or illness, which can be caused by doing too much too soon.

Future-proof yourself with preventative care, get a massage to help you check-in with your body and learn where it’s at and what it needs to get you back or keep you on track.
